Memorial Day – Remember and Honor

On Behalf of | May 24, 2022 | Firm News

Every year on the last Monday in May people gather to spend time with family, doing all kinds of outdoor activities such as grilling, boating or camping. But most importantly, we remember the men and women who served our nation and paid the ultimate sacrifice.

One thing we don’t often think about, is how Memorial Day came to be.

At the end of the Civil War, many would gather to remember the lives that were lost and to decorate the graves with flowers. Originally, Memorial Day was known as Decoration Day. It wasn’t until after World War I that the name was changed to what we know today. In 1971, it was designated as a federal holiday, and every year at 3:30 p.m. on this day, there is a moment of silence held; however, it is unclear when this tradition began.

This Memorial Day, take a moment to remember those who served to protect our freedom!

Our offices will be closed on Monday, May 30th in observance of the holiday.
